Foster City's Original Vocal
Group
The Foster City Community Chorus is a community based, performance
oriented vocal group offering a variety of musical literature ranging
from classical to folk to contemporary. The Chorus sings for community
and civic events and presents public concerts in the Spring and Winter.
Founded in 1992, it is Foster City's original vocal group offering
a recreational experience to those who like to sing and who desire
to join in harmony with others. Participation is open to adult residents
of Foster City and the surrounding communities. Auditions are not
required, but a strong sense of committment and dedication to the
group is essential. Under the direction of Paul Hurst, instruction
in basic music theory and fundamental singing techniques is offered
in a non-threatening environment, with support from other chorus
members. Public performance is also an important part of the chorus
experience. The chorus has performed more than fifty concerts and
civic performances.
Rehearsals are Tuesdays, 7:00-9:30 p.m. in the LGI Room of Audubon
Elementary School, 841 Gull Avenue, Foster City.
Rehearsal seasons are January through early May and September through
early December. Registration opens at the beginning of each season.
Each season culminates in a public concert. The spring season features
secular pieces and the fall season emphasizes holiday pieces for
Christmas and Hannukah.
Foster City Community Chorus is cosponsored by the Foster City Parks
and Recreation Department and the nonprofit Peninsula Musical Arts
Association. Its financial support comes from participation fees
from the singers, concert ticket sales and proceeds from corporate
and private performances.

How do I
join?
We'd be delighted if you'd consider joining Foster
City Community Chorus. You do not have to be a resident of Foster
City to join. Singers from all over the Peninsula enjoy participating.
We are a non-auditioned community chorus, and our singers
come from all walks of life. Some have had professional voice training,
some have performed with high school, college or church choirs. Some
have only sung in the shower, and some don't even read music that
well. If you can stay on pitch and are willing to learn and have
fun making music, then the chorus is prepared to help you participate.
We have two 14-16 week seasons per calendar year, with
the Spring season starting in January, and the Fall season starting
in late August. We rehearse on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to
9:30 p.m., at Audubon School, 841 Gull Avenue, in Foster City.

it with you to the first rehearsal.

What
does it cost?
PMAA collects participation fees as a means to finance
our overall operational expenses and performances. These fees also
remind us that we are making an investment in PMAA with both our
time and our money. Participation fees are $95 per 14-16 week season.
